The Cards

Produced by John Adams, these pre-printed cross-stitch cards are ideal for children.
The card is stiff and has clearly printed black crosses on.
However, young children will need help – the printed crosses do not always line up with the holes. Purchase similar items here.
Pre-Printed Cross-Stitch Cards for Children – The Kit

Torn open by the chldren, this set is about 20 years old, if not more!

However, to help little ones start on their stitching journey these cards are a great starting point. The kit contains four stitching cards, enough wool to complete each kit, a round ended plastic needle with large eye and stitching instructions for the adults. Unfortunately, most of the wool was lost or used on different things over the years.
But, my eldest children were simply not destined to be crafters. They quickly lost patience with threading the needle or following the simple, pre-printed crosses. Instead, they just drew on, folded, and cut the single card they actually started! Hence, I had to unpick what little stitching they had done and cellotape needed to applied before I completed the poor goose.

Once again, my lovely children had previously lost or destroyed the instructions! So using my own large headed wool needle, I stitched each design carefully. I tried hard to stick to the colours on the box even though many colours were missing. However, the pictures needed me to source some of the missing colours – this is where other family members came in handy!Bright purples, red, bright yellow, bright navy blue luminous orange (although it doen’t look it in the photo!) and pastel green all helped to complete this one.

Completing the windmill last, my daughter decided to help and did an excellent job. She finished off the sails in a bright navy blue wool and luuminous orange.
